I’m Simon Rogerson, a fully qualified maths teacher and experienced private tutor based in York and Selby. With degrees in mathematical subjects up to PhD level and a background in education, I’ve dedicated my career to helping students unlock their potential in maths. My teaching philosophy centres on patience and personalisation—every student learns differently, and my role is to find the approach that works best for them. Whether it’s GCSE revision, A-Level challenges, or adult learners brushing up on skills, I tailor each lesson to the individual’s needs and goals. I hold a full DBS check and maintain up-to-date certifications, which I’m happy to share on request. My teaching style is structured yet adaptable, blending clear explanations with problem-solving practice to build confidence and understanding. I’ve successfully guided students through exams, from GCSEs to A-Level Further Maths, and helped adults improve their numeracy for work or personal development. While I normally teach in students’ homes across York and Selby, I also offer flexible online lessons via Zoom for those who prefer it. My rates are transparent, with a 50% discount for the first hour to give new students a risk-free introduction.
