About me

Patient and nurturing primary teacher. I'm Em, a qualified primary teacher with QTS and two years experience tutoring online.

I’m passionate about helping children develop not only their skills, but also their confidence and enjoyment of learning. I can offer tailored tutoring for Maths, English, phonics and all primary subjects, including KS2 SATs and 11 plus preparation.

I have taught across Key Stage 1 and 2, giving me experience of supporting children of different ages, abilities and learning needs across the primary curriculum. I also have extensive experience working with children with SEN, and I pride myself on creating a calm, nurturing and supportive learning environment where every child feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

My approach to tutoring:

Every child learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to the individual pupil. I break learning down into small, manageable steps, clearly model what I would like the pupil to do, and then support them as they have a go themselves.

Lessons usually include:

Retrieval practice to revisit previous learning and identify what your child already knows.

Clear teaching and modelling of new concepts.

Guided and independent practice to build understanding and confidence.

Repetition and consolidation where needed to help new learning stick.

Targeted questioning and ongoing assessment to check understanding and uncover misconceptions.

I continually adapt my teaching based on how your child is responding. This means I can adjust the pace, level of challenge and amount of support throughout the lesson, rather than simply following a fixed plan.

My aim is for every child to finish a lesson feeling more confident, more capable and proud of what they have achieved.

🎵 Music & Clarinet

Alongside teaching, I have a DipABRSM in Clarinet and spent several years working as a professional musician, performing around the world. I now bring this experience into my clarinet teaching, offering friendly, encouraging lessons tailored to each learner.

Whether your child needs support with English, maths, reading, primary school subjects, SEN learning or clarinet, I’m here to make learning enjoyable, accessible and rewarding.

I’d love to help your child build their confidence, fill any gaps in their learning and reach their full potential
