1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners about how their site is being used.

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we are required to tell you what cookies we use and obtain your consent for any non-essential cookies.

2. Cookies we use

3. What we do not do

We do not use cookies for any of the following:

  • Targeted advertising or retargeting (no Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or ad network cookies)
  • Tracking you across other websites
  • Building advertising profiles or selling data to data brokers
  • Profiling you for personalised content beyond what is necessary to operate your account

4. How to manage cookies

Browser controls

All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. The links below take you to instructions for the most common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Note: Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to your TutorLab account.

Opting out of Google Analytics

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visit by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Alternatively, refuse analytics cookies when prompted by our cookie banner.

Withdrawing consent

If you previously accepted analytics cookies and wish to withdraw consent, clear your cookies in your browser settings or contact us at harry@trytutorlab.uk and we will help you manage your preferences. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing already carried out.

5. Updates to this policy

If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes we will display a notice on the site.
