Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 April 2026
The short version
TutorLab is a subscription software service for private tutors. By signing up you agree to the terms below. They are written in plain English because you shouldn't need a lawyer to read them.
Cancel anytime. No long contracts. Use the service responsibly, and we'll keep it running reliably.
1. The service
TutorLab provides software to help private tutors manage students, schedule sessions, generate lesson plans and parent reports, and send invoices. The service is provided on an “as is” basis — we work hard to keep it reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
2. Your account
You must be 16 or older to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know at support@tutorlab.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.
One account per tutor. Sharing login credentials with other tutors to avoid paying for separate accounts is not permitted.
3. Free and paid plans
The free plan includes up to 3 students and 10 AI credits per week, with no credit card required.
The Pro plan is £29/month (or the yearly equivalent) and includes unlimited students, sessions and AI generations, subject to fair-use limits designed to prevent abuse.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. We may change prices from time to time — existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days' notice of any increase.
4. Billing and cancellation
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. You can cancel at any time from your billing portal. Cancellation stops your next renewal — you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
Refunds are not provided for partial months or unused portions of yearly plans, except where required by UK consumer law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use TutorLab to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the service.
- Upload personal data of students or parents without an appropriate legal basis under UK GDPR.
- Use the AI features to submit exam questions, coursework or assessed work on behalf of a student in a way that breaches their school or exam board's rules.
- Use the service to operate automated bulk workflows that abuse fair-use limits.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
6. Content and ownership
Content you enter (session notes, student details, invoices) belongs to you. We act as a processor on your behalf — see our Privacy Policy.
Output generated by AI (lesson plans, reports, homework, exam questions) is yours to use. AI output can contain mistakes — you are responsible for reviewing it before sharing it with students or parents.
7. AI disclaimer
TutorLab uses AI models to assist with lesson plans, parent reports, homework and exam questions. These outputs are generated by software and may contain inaccuracies. Always review AI-generated content before using it in teaching or sending to parents. TutorLab is not responsible for errors in AI output that you use without review.
8. Availability and support
We aim for high availability but do not offer a formal uptime guarantee on Pro or free plans. Support is provided by email at support@tutorlab.uk during UK business hours. We respond to most requests within two working days.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TutorLab is not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses (including lost income, lost students or lost data). Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
10. Termination
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@tutorlab.uk. We can terminate or suspend your account if you breach these terms — where reasonable, we'll warn you first.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms we will email registered account holders at least 30 days in advance. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, except where UK consumer law gives you rights to bring proceedings elsewhere.
