Compare what local agencies charge parents, then set a rate that reflects your subject, experience and local market. Treat directories as one signal, not the answer.
A specific headline gives parents more useful information than a generic one. Include your subject, level or exam board, and location where relevant.
Reply promptly when you can. A clear, useful response reduces the chance a parent moves on while comparing tutors.
A consistent monthly invoice date can make budgeting and follow-up easier. TutorLab can build an invoice from your logged sessions.
Refer a tutor. Earn rewards.
Every TutorLab account includes a referral link. Share it with other tutors. They get a 28-day trial. When one publishes and the referral qualifies, you unlock Testimonials and may extend your own trial; when their first subscription payment succeeds, you earn a one-month account credit. It applies to a live plan automatically or is held until you subscribe.
Common questions
How does the TutorLab referral programme work?
Every TutorLab account includes a referral link. A tutor who joins through it gets a 28-day trial. When a referred tutor publishes and the referral qualifies, you unlock Testimonials and, if you are not subscribed, get 14 extra trial days (up to 2 times). After their first successful subscription payment, you earn a one-month account credit. It applies automatically if you have a live plan; otherwise TutorLab holds it until your own first successful subscription payment. Referrals never buy directory position or parent leads.
Who writes the tips in the TutorLab Community?
They come from Harry, the founder and a former tutor. The advice is drawn from what actually moved the needle for tutors filling their diaries, not generic business content.
Is the TutorLab Community free to join?
Yes. The tips and resources are open to everyone, and you can create a free account to get your referral link and access the tools. The 14-day free trial is £0 today, and you can cancel any time before your first charge.
What resources are available for UK tutors?
Direct links to AQA, Edexcel and OCR past papers and mark schemes, HMRC self-assessment guidance for self-employed tutors, and The Tutors' Association for professional membership.
