Every lesson is fully prepared in advance - I write structured lesson plans so we never waste time figuring out what to cover. Sessions follow a clear pattern: a recap of last time, taught content with worked examples, then exam-style questions with full mark schemes.

I tailor every lesson to the individual. We start by identifying exactly where the gaps are and what matters most for their grade target, then build a plan around that - rather than just working through a textbook from start to finish.

I teach concepts first, always, before moving to questions. Students learn best when they understand the 'why', not just the method. I use clear explanations, common-error warnings, and step-by-step worked examples before asking students to apply anything independently. I'm also happy to stop and answer any questions at any point - no question is too small, and sessions should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.

Progress is tracked lesson to lesson. I note what clicked, what needs revisiting, and what's coming next - so every session builds on the last. Parents receive a written summary after each lesson.

What I think matters most: confidence. Many students arrive believing they 'can't do' a subject. I work hard to change that - breaking problems into manageable steps, and making sure students leave each session feeling more capable than when they arrived.
