My Teaching Style

My teaching approach focuses on introducing students to the skills and techniques needed to succeed, before giving them the opportunity to apply these independently. I particularly enjoy using practice paragraphs, essay plans and past examination papers to develop students' confidence and refine their exam technique. I also believe that a strong understanding of the text itself is essential to success in English Literature, so I place considerable emphasis on learning key content, themes, characters and quotations alongside developing analytical skills.

My Qualifications and Experience

I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE English Literature and a Grade 8 in GCSE English Language. I also have experience teaching a group of academically ambitious GCSE students through regular English Literature masterclasses. All of the students achieved grades 7–9, with the majority achieving Grade 9. This experience helped me develop an approach that combines subject knowledge, structured practice and individual feedback.

The Students I Teach

I welcome students of all abilities, from those looking to build confidence and strengthen their foundational skills to those aiming for the highest grades. I particularly enjoy working with students who are motivated to improve and are willing to engage with feedback and practise independently. Lessons are adapted to each student's individual needs, ensuring that they can develop at their own pace while being appropriately challenged.

I can also teach A-level Religious studies, where I received an A*.
