A-Level maths, online
A-level maths, taught by someone who can explain the why
The jump from GCSE to A-level maths is the steepest in the sixth form. Pupils who coasted on a grade 7 or 8 meet calculus, proof and mechanics in the same term, and the school moves at the pace of the class, not the pupil.

If nobody has replied within 22 hours, we widen the search to more tutors automatically. You do not need to chase. You agree the lesson price with the tutor before anything is booked, and it is shown as one all-in figure. Posting a request is free and needs no account.
We share your request only with the tutors we shortlist, and email you their replies and status updates about it. Every status email carries a link to close the request.

Have these ready
- The exam board, if you know it (it is on the school timetable or any past paper)
- The grade they are on now and the grade they need
- When you want lessons to start
- The days and times that could work
Why it goes wrong
Why A-Level maths goes wrong, and what a tutor changes
A-level maths is three papers across pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics, and every board examines all three. The pure content underpins the other two, so a pupil who falls behind on algebraic technique or calculus in Year 12 carries that into every Year 13 topic and into the applied papers as well.
The pressure is also about time. University offers hinge on a predicted grade set in the autumn of Year 13, so a wobble in Year 12 has to be caught early. Weekly one-to-one lessons are the shortest route from a mock result to a predicted grade a pupil can actually hit.
Online suits A-level maths well: a shared whiteboard handles proof and diagrams, and the pupil can bring exactly the question they got stuck on, from their own textbook or past paper, to every session.
What to look for
What to look for in an online A-Level maths tutor
- Teaches the board your child sits (AQA, Edexcel, OCR or OCR MEI) and knows how its papers weight pure, statistics and mechanics.
- Has taught the full two-year course, not only GCSE, and can move between the three papers as the school schedule does.
- Diagnoses whether the problem is technique, understanding or exam timing before choosing what to work on.
- Uses the board's large data set and formula booklet the way the exam expects.
- Comfortable with Further Maths pupils if that is where your child is heading.
The brief asks for the board, the grade and the goal precisely so that tutors who fit can say so in their first reply.
FAQ
Questions parents ask
How much does this cost?
Nothing to ask. The price shown is one all-in price, so the price you see is the price you pay. Your tutor keeps their full rate.
How do you choose which tutors see my request?
We pick up to 3 tutors who teach this subject at this level online and are taking on new students right now. Tutors cannot pay to be put in front of you; the shortlist is only about fit.
What if nobody replies?
If nobody has replied within 22 hours, we widen the search to more tutors automatically. You do not need to chase. If no fitting tutor is free right now, we store your request and introduce you the moment one publishes. You will receive a status update within 7 days, and every status email includes a link to close the request.
My child is in Year 13 and behind. Is it too late?
No. Say so on the form, including the exam month, and tutors will reply with what they would prioritise in the time available. Start intent is one of the questions we ask so a tutor can judge the urgency before replying.
Can the same tutor help with Further Maths?
Some can. Mention Further Maths in the details box and the tutors who teach it will say so in their reply.
