Keep 100% of your rate. Every lesson. Forever.

MyTutor takes roughly 40% (+VAT). Tutorful marks up your rate by about 35%. Tutor Hunt takes 25 to 32%, for as long as you teach the student. Bring your students to TutorLab and keep all of it: 0% commission on your own students, ever, with a card fee from 3.4% only if you take card payments.

Why switch to TutorLab

Keep 100% of your rate on the students you bring

No commission on your own students. Parents pay your rate, you keep all of it. At £40/hour, one lesson a week earns you £40, not £20-28.

Parents contact you directly

Enquiries land in your inbox. You reply by email, arrange sessions on your terms. No booking engine, no middleman on the conversation.

Import your whole student list in minutes

Paste your spreadsheet or upload a CSV. AI matches the columns, you review the preview, everything imports in one go.

The money: one worked example

Assumptions, stated plainly: a tutor charging £40/hour, one regular student, one lesson a week, 40 term-time weeks a year. That is £1,600/year in gross lesson fees from a single student, before any platform takes its share. A tutor with multiple students multiplies this per student.

On a ~30% commission marketplace

1 hour/week at £40/hour, 40 weeks/year£1,600/year
Minus ~30% commission (illustrative mid-range; MyTutor ~40%, Tutorful ~35%, Tutor Hunt ~25-32%)480
You keep£1,120/year

30% is an illustrative mid-point across marketplace commissions, not any one platform's exact rate. See the full fee table below for each platform's real range.

On TutorLab

1 hour/week at £40/hour, 40 weeks/year£1,600/year
Minus 0% commission (own students; card fee from 3.4% only if you take card payments)-£0
You keep£1,600/year

That is £480 more per year from a single student, before subscription cost. If you take card payments through TutorLab's own-student auto-pay rail, a flat 3.4-4.9% card-processing fee applies by tier, that is a processing fee, not a lesson commission. Multiply by your actual student count.

3 steps to switch

1

Create a TutorLab profile

Sign up free. Add your subject, location, rate, and a photo if you have one. That takes about 5 minutes.

2

Import your students

Go to /app/import, paste your student list (or upload a CSV), and our AI matches the columns for you. Review the preview and import in one go. Your existing students land in your TutorLab dashboard.

3

Publish and go live

Click publish. Parents searching for your subject in your town find your profile. Your imported students are already there; new parents can enquire and arrange sessions directly with you.

What changes for your parents: nothing

Your existing parents do not need to do anything. They keep paying you the same way they always have: bank transfer, your invoices, or however you arranged it. They never get forced into a TutorLab account and they never see commission markups. On TutorLab, when new parents find you and enquire, they just reply to your email and book directly.

The only thing new parents see is your TutorLab profile with your rate. They message you directly. No Student Pass, no booking fee, no middleman. That is the whole difference from the platforms you are switching from.

How the import works (it is private and fast)

Paste or upload

Copy your list from Google Sheets, Excel, or export a CSV from your current platform. Paste it or upload the file.

AI matches columns

Our AI reads only the column headings (Name, Email, Rate, etc.). It never sees your parents' details. Matching takes seconds.

You review and import

See the preview. Every row is shown. Confirm it looks right, then import. Your list stays in your browser until you press go.

Or we can set it up for you

Have just a few students, or prefer a hand? Reply to any TutorLab email, or write to us directly, with a screenshot of your student list and we will move it over for you the same day. No forms, no waiting.

Management software runs your admin but brings you no students. TutorLab does both: the same back office, plus a directory that sends parents your way.

Questions about switching

Do you take my clients?

No. You are the merchant of record for every lesson. If a parent pays by card through TutorLab, the payment settles directly to your own Stripe-connected bank account, TutorLab only takes a flat card-processing fee, never a cut of your relationship with the student. You can export your student list at any time.

What does it cost?

0% commission on your own students, ever, on any tier, with a flat card fee from 3.4% only if you take card payments. Publishing your profile is free. For a parent who finds you through TutorLab, an introduction fee starts at 15% and falls to your card rate within 12 months, then they count as your own students. An optional subscription from £9 a month adds AI lesson notes, parent reports, HMRC tax summaries and stronger directory placement. 14-day free trial, no card to start.

What about my existing students?

They stay yours. If you take their card payments through TutorLab's auto-pay rail, the own-student card fee is a flat 3.4-4.9% depending on your plan (lower on higher tiers), and that is a processing fee, never a commission on the lesson. You can also keep collecting by bank transfer or invoice at no fee at all.

Can I import my student list from another platform?

Yes. Copy your student list from Google Sheets, Excel, or any tutoring platform, paste it into TutorLab, and our AI matches the columns for you. Upload a CSV, review the preview, and import: everything lands in your TutorLab account in one go. No retyping.

Will my parents have to create accounts on TutorLab?

No. Parents contact you directly when they find your profile. They never need TutorLab accounts. You collect payments through your own invoicing or (optionally) through Stripe card payments; they just reply to your email and arrange sessions directly with you.

Can I leave TutorLab if it's not for me?

Yes. Cancel any time from your billing settings, no lock-in contract, and export your student list and session history whenever you want.

Keep 100% of your rate, starting today

Import your students yourself in minutes, or email us your list and we will move it over the same day. Either way, from your first lesson: 0% commission, just a card fee from 3.4% if you take card payments.
