Year 12 tutors UK

Year 12 is the first year of A-Level study (or equivalent: BTEC, T-Level, IB). The jump from GCSE to A-Level is considerable — content is much deeper and essay writing, analysis and independent study are expected to a higher standard. Students typically study three or four subjects. Year 12 AS assessments (where taken) provide an early performance indicator. University applications are prepared during Year 12 for October submission in Year 13.

Key dates

Some schools still offer AS-Level assessments at the end of Year 12. UCAS university applications open in September of Year 13 — strong Year 12 performance supports predicted grades, which directly influence offer conditions.
