Moving from TutorBird
Bring your TutorBird students to TutorLab
TutorLab’s import reads a CSV file or a list pasted from a spreadsheet. It has a TutorBird option that matches the common columns for you, and you check every row before anything is saved.
Start on Free, no card needed. Upgrade to Pro, £29 a month, whenever you want it.
How the move works
Step 1
Start from your student list
A CSV file, or a list copied into Google Sheets or Excel, with one row per student.
Step 2
Open Import in TutorLab and pick TutorBird
Common columns match automatically. The TutorBird option also reads the headings in the table below.
Step 3
Check the preview
For any field left unmatched, you choose the column yourself or leave it out. Nothing is saved until you press Import.
Step 4
Press Import
Your students land in TutorLab. Where a row has a weekly lesson day and time, TutorLab also sets up that weekly slot and puts the upcoming lessons in your timetable.
With the TutorBird option on
| A column headed | Goes into TutorLab as |
|---|---|
| Student Name | Student name |
| Family | Parent name |
| Default Service | Subject(s) |
| Day of Week | Weekly lesson day |
| Start Time | Weekly lesson time |
These describe what TutorLab does with the TutorBird option on, not TutorBird’s own export, which is theirs to change. Any column that does not match, you set by hand in the preview.
What moves across, and what stays behind
Moves across
Any of these your file has: Student name, Parent name, Parent email, Parent phone, Subject(s), Year group, Exam board, Rate (£/hr), Current payment method, Weekly lesson day, Weekly lesson time, Lesson length, Notes.
Stays behind
Past lessons, invoices and payments. The import brings over your students and their weekly slots, not your history, so keep your TutorBird records for anything you need to look back on.
- Up to 200 students per import during your trial or on a paid plan. Run it again for the rest.
- Your file is read in your browser, and nothing is saved until you press Import.
Still deciding?
Our page on TutorLab and TutorBird sets the two side by side, and switching to TutorLab covers fees and what changes for your families.
