Oxbridge interviews typically involve a short piece of unseen material (a text, data set or problem) followed by a discussion guided by the interviewer. The key skills are: thinking aloud, exploring ideas analytically rather than just answering with facts, asking clarifying questions and being willing to change your position when challenged. The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is used by most UK medical and dental schools. It consists of 6–10 short stations (each 5–8 minutes) covering ethical scenarios, role play, communication skills, data interpretation and personal motivation questions. Unlike traditional panel interviews, you move between stations and face a different examiner at each one.
