Answers are marked on pre-printed answer sheets and scores are age-standardised. The qualifying level is a total standardised score of at least 220 across the two papers.
Because the qualifying score is a fixed 220 rather than a moving rank cut-off, Lincolnshire preparation is about clearing a known bar: children scoring consistently above the threshold in timed practice are well placed. The Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools has 15 member schools across the county, including Bourne Grammar, Boston Grammar, Spalding Grammar, Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School and Queen Elizabeth's High School in Gainsborough. One registration and one pair of test papers covers all consortium schools. Caistor Grammar School is not a member and sets its own separate exam.
The consortium publishes a fixed qualifying level: a total age-standardised score of at least 220 across the two papers. Children at or above 220 are eligible for consortium grammar schools, though individual schools still apply their own oversubscription criteria when demand exceeds places.
