About the Lincolnshire 11 Plus exam
The consortium test consists of two GL Assessment multiple-choice papers, one verbal reasoning and one non-verbal and spatial reasoning, sat on two separate dates in mid-September of Year 6. Answers are marked on pre-printed answer sheets and scores are age-standardised. The qualifying level is a total standardised score of at least 220 across the two papers.
Because the qualifying score is a fixed 220 rather than a moving rank cut-off, Lincolnshire preparation is about clearing a known bar: children scoring consistently above the threshold in timed practice are well placed. The catch is the calendar: registration closes at the end of March in Year 5, months before most other regions, so families who leave the decision to the summer miss the sitting entirely.
Registration deadline
Registration for the Lincolnshire Consortium test opens in early January and closes at the end of March of Year 5, far earlier than most regions. The two test papers are sat on separate mid-September dates in Year 6.

11 Plus in Lincolnshire: common questions
Which schools does the Lincolnshire 11 Plus cover?
The Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools has 15 member schools across the county, including Bourne Grammar, Boston Grammar, Spalding Grammar, Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School and Queen Elizabeth's High School in Gainsborough. One registration and one pair of test papers covers all consortium schools. Caistor Grammar School is not a member and sets its own separate exam.
What score do you need to pass the Lincolnshire 11 Plus?
The consortium publishes a fixed qualifying level: a total age-standardised score of at least 220 across the two papers. Children at or above 220 are eligible for consortium grammar schools, though individual schools still apply their own oversubscription criteria when demand exceeds places.
When is the Lincolnshire 11 Plus registration deadline?
Registration opens in early January and closes at the end of March of Year 5, which is months earlier than most 11+ regions. The two papers are then sat on separate dates in mid-September of Year 6, with results in mid-October ahead of the 31 October application deadline. Put the March deadline in your diary early.
What does the Lincolnshire test involve?
Two GL Assessment multiple-choice papers: one verbal reasoning, one non-verbal and spatial reasoning. There is no English or maths paper in the consortium test, which makes Lincolnshire preparation heavily reasoning-focused: vocabulary building, verbal logic, and practice with rotation, reflection and spatial sequence questions under timed conditions.
