About the Lincolnshire 11 Plus exam

The consortium test consists of two GL Assessment multiple-choice papers, one verbal reasoning and one non-verbal and spatial reasoning, sat on two separate dates in mid-September of Year 6. Answers are marked on pre-printed answer sheets and scores are age-standardised. The qualifying level is a total standardised score of at least 220 across the two papers.

Because the qualifying score is a fixed 220 rather than a moving rank cut-off, Lincolnshire preparation is about clearing a known bar: children scoring consistently above the threshold in timed practice are well placed. The catch is the calendar: registration closes at the end of March in Year 5, months before most other regions, so families who leave the decision to the summer miss the sitting entirely.
